The 2025 Tax Filing Season is officially underway! The eFiling platform opened on 21 July, and taxpayers can now begin submitting their returns. The Office of the Tax Ombud encourages taxpayers to file early to avoid last minute stress, and ensure accuracy in their returns.

Why File Early?

If you owe taxes, filing early gives you more time to plan and budget for payment arrangements before the deadline.
Allow time to correct errors, ensuring your return is accurate and complete before the deadline
Receive your refund faster, if applicable, as early filings are typically processed more quickly.

Know Your Rights as a Taxpayer

As you prepare your return, remember that you have important rights, including:

The right to clear and accessible communication
The right to privacy and confidentiality
The right to object or appeal any assessment
The right to representation
The right to pay no more than the correct amount of tax.
